Mission and Purpose


CUFSN Mission Statement Spring 2014

The Columbia University Family Support Network (CUFSN) is a university-wide organization focused on advocating for improved resources and policies to support members of the Columbia community with families. By voicing the issues faced by the Columbia community, advocating for university-wide support and policies to improve resources, and connecting Columbia families with one another, CUFSN works to promote a diverse and inclusive environment of benefit to all members of the

Note: “Columbia community” is defined in the CUFSN by-laws as encompassing students, research officers, alumni, faculty, and staff.

Some    recent    successes:
  • The School of General Studies Childcare Stipend and Emergency Childcare Survey, which identifies areas of concern regarding lack of childcare options for both students with children and for those without.
  • A joint orientation session (“Resources for Students with Families Workshop”) for GS/GSAS students with families in the fall term of every academic year. GS and GSAS will take turns in hosting the event.
  • Free weekly CPS workshops that offer support for members of the Columbia community trying to balance academic and family responsibilities.
  • A range of family friendly events, including our upcoming Easter Eggstravaganza on April 19th.
